The last couple weeks we have talked about: Mercy-keeping us from the consequences we deserve. This week the kids received no mercy from me at the beginning of class, if they were not obeying, doing what they were told, they were removed from the table. Which let into our lesson on God's mercy, and how we don't have to pay the price of death for our sin, we can have eternal life because he sent his son to die for our sins. Last week our main verse was Romans 6:19-20 and how hope is our anchor, when we go through troubles in our life we need to hang on to the hope that God will see us through and give us the strength to do so. We did an experiment with a hard boiled egg and a glass bottle, ask the kids how we got the egg inside the bottle without squishing it. Hope begins with trust, at fist they didn't know how I was going to make it happen, but we can have hope in God and trust in Him because of all the amazing stories out of the Bible about how God kept His promises to people, how he kept them safe, how he healed them and saved them. And about all of Jesus’ miracles, those stories help us know and believe that our God is mighty and powerful and capable of all things. Those things build our hope in Him.
Hope is to believe or to trust, not knowing what may happen, not seeing the goodness of the situation, just believing and trusting that God will be there with you through it all.
